Just found out we lost another legend on 12 Feb, RIP, Marine.

Charles Benjamin "Chuck" Mawhinney (born 1949) was a United States Marine who holds the Corps' record for the most confirmed sniper kills, having recorded 103 confirmed kills and 216 probable kills in 16 months during the Vietnam War.

That may have been preferable to painful illness he couldn't recover from. Unfortunately the "health" field likes to keep people alive and billable as long as possible.
When my great grandmother was in hospice, end of life stage 4 cancer they stated they didn't want to give her more morphine because they didn't want her to get addicted.
