So what do people think of this knife? I think it will probably be my next choice after a small neck knife. I first saw it in agrussel and it seems like a decent price for a versatile knife. Also, what do people think about the sheiths with the magnets. Is just straight kydex better or worse?
Thanks

Honestly, I don't think it's a great comprimise. You get a low-grade blade steel, and a cheapish handle, but you get a nice 9-position kydex and magnets sheath.

Plus, there is not guard on the knife, which makes it dangerous for self defense or for use when wet.

As far as the magnets go, I think they are not needed. They add too much weight, and lipped kydex should provide plenty of retention without them.

I suggest you pay a little more to get a good steel and handle material, plus a better knife design.

Here's a link to a knife that's got a great steel, a nice sheath, and a great design (a Simonich design):

There have been several reviews of this knife here on this very forum. Have a search for them. Most people (incl me) didn't think they were worth their price. Handle is cheap plastic. Blade is OK, but over-all this is not a very good deal as it turns out. Sheath is the best part (IMHO of course)...

I wrote a review of the smaller "tacitical" Bud Nealy Escort in a review. If you look back a month or two, you will find it.

The Esocrt comes in two sizes, the big size and the small size. The small "tactical" size, in my opinion is not worth the money.
I consider it a glorified pearing knife, which it is. It runs about seventy dollars in a cutlery store or around fifty in a catalog.

I haven't handled the bigger one, but some people have said they like it. This one runs from $140 to $170 in the Boker catalog but a large discount knife catalog store probably sells them cheaper. I would look at both knives before making my decision.

Several months back, I bought the Boker Aikuchi. I was somewhat disappointed in theknife. It was not very sharp out of the box. It was not evenly ground either.

The sheath, in my opinion is larger than it needs to be. I am not a fan of excess. I like to keep things simple.
